Your heart gets broken. You fail a test. Someone you love dies too soon. You and a close friend drift apart.

Sometimes, it sucks.

Even though it happens, however, it still doesn’t make life less amazing. Life’s about picking yourself back up after the bad times, learning to accept the things you can’t change, change the things you can, and loving others as much as you can.

It’s been an odd day for me. I’ve spent a lot of it in my own head trying to figure out why I have been in such a funk lately.

Yeah, shit hasn’t been totally working in my favor lately. The guy I have a mad crush on thinks my friend is hot (awesome), I might be coming down with pneumonia (sweet), I sprained or pulled something in my foot and now it’s a bitch to walk on (I’m so smooth). And now I’m behind on homework, need way more sleep than I can logically get, and am probably going to be groggy with illness for the next few days or longer. 

It sucks. It really does. Knowing that it’ll get better doesn’t totally make it suck less, but at least there’s hope. I know there are people in my life who are there when I need them. My friends are great. My mom is a phone call away. My aunt who has been my other mother in Arkansas for my entire life is less than thirty minutes away, even quicker with the way she drives. 

I’ll get past the hard times. I’ll move on from the heartache. I’ll eventually get over being sick. It doesn’t mean it won’t happen again…it just means I’ll get better at handling the curveballs life throws my way.
